The book reveals the life and activities of one of the greatest and most mysterious, controversial figures in the history of Ukraine - the Kievan Prince Volodymyr the Great (c. 960–1015).
The biography of the prince is presented against the background of the development of Ukrainian medieval statehood. It was Volodymyr who was destined to become the creator of the first centralized Ukrainian state, to build it from within and establish it externally. By introducing Christianity, Volodymyr not only carried out a religious reform, but also brought Ukraine into the circle of states of the Christian world, making his choice in favor of Europe.
