Peter the Rabbit, his cousin Venya Wukhan, the squirrel Nutty, the frog Yarema Rybalka, the duck-puddler Jemka… These and other characters from the fairy tales of Beatrix Potter (1866–1943), an English children's writer and illustrator, have long become favorite book heroes of little Britons, as well as children all over the world.
The author's rare observation and rich imagination allowed her to create surprisingly successfully stylized and touchingly humanized images of animals. Her little heroes do not always obey their elders, often get into various troubles - and yet they happily get out of them, sometimes go on journeys and, undoubtedly, become wiser - and some, moving from fairy tale to fairy tale, even grow up before our eyes and create their own families.
This edition contains 23 Beatrix Potter books published during her lifetime in Ukrainian translation — the long-awaited first encounter of Ukrainian children with the work of the outstanding Englishwoman.
