The album was published by the Institute of Collecting Ukrainian Art Monuments at the National Museum of History (compiler – Yuriy Yurkevich) with the aim of introducing into scientific circulation high-level examples of art that can be seen in museums, operating churches and private collections. A significant number of recorded monuments form a holistic idea of the artistic features of this phenomenon of national art, which can be traced from the end of the 15th to the beginning of the 20th century.
In addition to numerous photos, the album contains articles by Yuriy Yurkevich “Mykhailo Dragan – an outstanding researcher of Ukrainian sacred art”, “Icon-Painted Royal Gates” by Maria Gelitovych, head of the Department of Ancient Ukrainian Art of the A. Sheptytsky National Museum of History and Culture and “Carved Royal Gates of the 17th – 20th Centuries” by N. Oleiniuk, head of the funds of the A. Sheptytsky National Museum of History and Culture
