The world has changed - various mythological systems that united people into tribes have lost their unifying power, they have been replaced by social ideas and political ideologies. The destruction of myths - those values and ideas that for many centuries helped a person to establish a connection with the energies of the universe (that is, with the gods, to speak in the language of metaphor), with the community (family, society) and with himself - forces us to look for a point of support within ourselves.
Why should a person accept this challenge - to take responsibility for his life, for the formation of a personal myth and his own system of values?
We need to feel that, firstly, we have lived our lives as well and fully as possible, and, secondly, that we had some connection with a higher world order, some involvement in the mystery that permeates all of history and animates the soul of every person.
This dual task—to live one's life honoring the sacrament—is, strangely enough, two different aspects of the same essence.
