The book traces the historical roots of the modern borders of Ukraine.
It is shown that the current borders are a pale shadow of the historical ones, and the key contours of the Ukrainian territory were formed during the 16th–18th centuries.
The beliefs of the Ukrainian elites regarding the ideal borders of Ukraine, the physical mastery of the territories in the east and south, the decisive contribution of the Cossacks to the irreversible rooting of the Ukrainian trace there are considered.
Separately, the original ideas of the neighbors (Poland, Muscovy, the Crimean Khanate, Turkey) about the natural borders of Ukraine are clearly expressed. It is demonstrated that in the 16th–18th centuries. these ideas echoed the ideas of the Ukrainian elites, and the position of Muscovy itself at that time completely shatters the modern Moscow ideology of Novorossiya.
The process of cutting the territory of Ukraine by the occupying authorities throughout the 20th century is shown.
For everyone who is interested in history.
