In his new book, the author, based on an extensive bibliography and numerous and rarely used archival documents (Polish, Ukrainian, and Western), analyzes four important episodes of Ukrainian-Polish history: the Union of Lublin, its nature and consequences; relations and conflicts between Polish landowners and Ruthenian (Ukrainian) peasants in Right-Bank Ukraine in the 19th and early 20th centuries; the circumstances of the signing of the treaty between J. Pilsudski and S. Petliura in 1920 and its consequences, as well as the causes and nature of the Volhynia massacres during World War II.
The author's approach to the mentioned historical events in many cases goes beyond the paradigms that have become textbooks in both Ukrainian and Polish historiographies, so the author's narrative encourages the reader to reflect and draw independent conclusions.
The book is intended for a wide range of readers, those who are interested in current problems of Ukrainian-Polish relations.
