The thought of G.K. Chesterton (1874–1936) received exceptional recognition in the English-speaking and Catholic worlds during his lifetime, and for over a century it has continued to shimmer with quotes both in issues of popular newspapers and in liturgical sermons.
This collection includes ten of his texts on the structure of society, relationships between people, worldview and political views, which are especially interesting to read in the context of Ukrainian modernity - precisely because they were written by an influential commentator on other times and cultures, and at the same time - written exceptionally witty.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Gilbert Keith Chesterton (1874–1936) is an exceptionally important philosopher and writer for English thought of the last century, whose texts are distinguished by the accuracy and beauty of thought on a very wide range of issues, as well as a sense of humor and a skillful appeal to the absurd.
Currently known to Ukrainian readers as the author of detective stories about Father Brown ("The Man Who Was Thursday") and massive Christian apologetics ("Orthodoxy", "The Eternal Man"). At the same time, his articles for newspapers - and he wrote about four thousand of them - have almost not been translated into Ukrainian.
