Ferdinand Kassler. Architect of Galician Modernism

The book will introduce readers to one of the most famous Lviv architects of the first half of the 20th century – Ferdinand Kassler, who, with his innovative activities, contributed to the creation of a unique image of the city.

The authors analyze the urban transformations of Lviv during the period of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy and the Second Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, a city that developed rapidly and was a grateful place for creative searches and experiments. The architect’s life path, the stages of the formation of his professional personality, the formation and evolution of aesthetic ideals and beliefs are studied.
