The book presents the reader with the most recent Ukrainian translation of "Purgatory" (the second part of Dante's "Divine Comedy") by Maksym Strykha. The extensive preface tells about Dante as a co-creator of the theological concept of Purgatory - a "temporary hell", where guilty but not lost souls atone for their sins in order to be admitted to Heaven.
Continuing the tradition established in the published "Inferno", the translator presents an anthology of Ukrainian poems related to the figure of Dante, written over the past hundred and fifty years: from Panko Kulish to Olena O'Lear.
