CHRONICLE OF UKRAINIAN DESIGN. No. 1 (Second edition)

“Chronicle of Ukrainian Design” is a new periodical printed publication about the history and development of Ukrainian design initiated by the Spiilka design bureau. The magazine is an attempt to see and show how Ukrainian design identity was born and changed.

From the time of Kyivan Rus to today’s large-scale international partnerships, Ukrainian creative professionals tell us how functional, attentive to tradition, and at the same time innovative design is in Ukraine.

Among the topics of the first issue of the Chronicle: Vasyl Krychevsky, Coat of Arms of the UNR, e-Ukraine Font, State in a Smartphone, Volodymyr Pobedin, Aeneas’ Bicycle, and others.

Typography, graphic design, industrial and product designs, digital design — “Chronicle of Ukrainian Design” covers these areas and tells about projects and designers that have influenced Ukraine and Ukrainians and have been noticed in the world.

In the second edition, we rewrote the article about the history of Ukrainian fonts: we added new facts, cleaned up what was in doubt, and gave this story a new life. Everything else remained unchanged. Among the topics: Vasyl Krychevsky, Coat of Arms of the UNR, Font e-Ukraine, State in a Smartphone, Volodymyr Pobedin, Aeneas' bicycle and others.

The first issue was created by the Spiilka team in co-authorship and partnership with the SKVOT school of popular culture. As well as with the support of the Ukrainian IT company MacPaw, EdTech company Headway and the leading law firm Vasyl Kisil and Partners.
